Feeling lots of anxiety over getting financing for a home purchase? You don't have to be. Being familiar with several mortgage lenders in Long Beach has helped me realize some things that make the process of applying for a loan uncomplicated.

1 – Make a list of questions about your loan program

Make sure you bring a list of questions if you find that you don't totally grasp the advantages and disadvantages of all the different programs. It can be a challenge understanding the distinctions between both fixed and adjustable rate mortgages. I or one of my trusted lenders can help you understand the advantages and disadvantages of each program.

2 – Decide when you want to lock

When you lock in the interest rate, your mortgage lender is guaranteed to commit to the interest rates for the loan – normally at the time the loan application is sent in. By floating the rate, you can lock the rate at any time between the day you apply for the loan and at the time of closing. 3 – Decide if you want to pay additional points to lower your interest rate

Generally you can choose to pay additional points to lower the rate of your mortgage loan. Each point is 1 percent of the mortgage loan and is payable in cash at closing. To decide if you should buy points, click here to use our points calculator.
